Where will my baby sleep? How you helped Daisy in her time of need.

Ever wonder how people discover the many resources available at Care Net? You’re probably not surprised to learn an internet search is the most common way. A close second? Word-of-mouth referrals.

Daisy* is a recent example. She learned about our services thanks to her doula, Qwantese, who happens be the care coordinator at Care Net’s First Care Clinic.
Daisy told Qwantese she’d planned to get a bassinet from a family friend, but that had fallen through. “The baby was due in just a few weeks,” remembered Daisy. “I thought, Where am I going to lay my baby?

Thanks to a special Care Portal that Care Net uses to connect the needs of women to churches that can fill them, we were quickly able to fill this need for Daisy. A local church provided her with a bassinet just days before her son made his appearance!

That bassinet was just one of the many ways Daisy relied on Care Net.

Parenting courses were another. Care Net offers a variety of classes designed to help parents meet the needs of their children at different life stages.
“The course on strong-willed children talks a lot about emotions,” shared Daisy. “That class helped me to shift my perspective and try to have more empathy for my kids, especially my oldest.”

Daisy also participated in a class to prepare children for a new sibling and looks forward to taking more classes in the future as the needs of her children change.
Not only did the classes prepare Daisy to be an even better mom, but they also allowed her to earn points she could spend in our baby supplies boutique. Our boutique offers a wide range of baby items including handmade blankets, diapers, wipes, baby clothes, books and much more, all made possible by generous donors. Daisy was able to stock up on last-minute items for her son and described our selection as “cute, with so much variety.”

Daisy was very grateful to find life-affirming resources right when she needed them, “Thank you for being here. The staff, donors, everyone. The work you do is important and very necessary. It is truly appreciated.”
