You are sharing the Gospel

“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them in also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd”- John 10:16

When Lisa and Chris* arrived at our clinic for a pregnancy test and ultrasound, they were expecting to receive medical care and information about their options. But they received much more.

Because at First Care Clinic, we strive to address the whole person.  We know that an unintended pregnancy can affect our patients more than just physically or medically.  There are also emotional, mental, and spiritual implications associated with the news and the decision-making process.

Our advocate asked Lisa if she was open to a spiritual discussion.  Lisa said yes and shared that she had been raised in a Muslim household and, as a result, followed the Muslim faith throughout her upbringing. But as she grew older, Lisa felt a tug in a different spiritual direction.

Lisa discovered the Bible and Christianity through social media and the influence of a few friends. She shared her faith discovery with her mother, hoping she would be receptive, but that didn’t happen.  Lisa and Chris had both made a decision to follow Christ, but they didn’t know what to do next. They also shared they hoped to raise their child in the Christian faith as well.

Lisa and Chris’s openness and willingness to talk about their beliefs were an invitation to our staff to ask more questions, offer resources, and, most importantly, pray. Lisa shared that she had never attended a Christian church. Luckily, she was in the right place.  We offered her information about local churches and gave them copies of the Gospel of John, which they eagerly accepted. The advocate felt led to invite them to attend church with her on the upcoming Sunday.

At our clinic, yes, we offer high-quality medical care and answers to their questions – all at no charge. Our care coordinator shares resources tailored to their individual circumstances. But the most beautiful and important work we can do is to share the Greatest Resource, Jesus Christ.

Lisa and Chris’s experience at First Care Clinic had such a profound impact that they shared their experience with family and friends.  One of them disclosed they thought they might be pregnant, too.  Lisa knew just where to bring her!

When we allow the Holy Spirit to lead, he uses us in ways we would never expect. Daily, we are reminded what a blessing it is to be a part of His work – to be His vessels and to witness His kingdom work being fulfilled here on earth.

Thank you for being a part of this work and for sharing the Gospel with those who need to hear it most.
