Volunteer Spotlight: Led by God into Service
Kelly Corrales felt called by God’s spirit to move from Los Angeles to Madison. At the time, Kelly had no clue as to why God was leading her to Madison, but she trusted Him and took the plunge. Kelly’s mom moved with her, and not long after they arrived, her mother began to experience health problems. Fortunately, the UW Health system was just the right place for her mom to receive care, though Kelly’s mom soon went home to be with the Lord.
After her mother’s death, Kelly wasn’t sure what kingdom work she should be doing. But she continued to trust in God and sensed He wanted to use her time and talents in a special way. After a mission trip to the Dominican Republic with City Church, Kelly found her spark to serve others was reignited. And when Kelly heard about a team of women from her church that visited The Elizabeth House once a month to encourage and support the home’s residents, she knew she wanted to check it out.
Kelly loved the family atmosphere at The Elizabeth house – saying it “felt like home” from the first time she visited. As a bilingual, single mom Kelly quickly saw how her experiences and skills would allow her to make a difference in the lives of these moms and their babies. Now, every Thursday evening you’ll find Kelly helping moms by spending time with their babies so they can do chores and get a small bit of time to take care of themselves.
God led Kelly to serve the women of The Elizabeth House and we are so thankful for her trust in His call. If you would like to learn more about how you can get involved, email Sally at Sallys@carenetdane.org to get started!
