One appointment can change the course of a generation.

Sughey* came to us, overwhelmed and afraid. Far from home on a work visa, she had planned to finish her degree in her home country. A pregnancy was not a part of her plan. It was not the right time. The father was halfway across the country, not to mention he didn’t even know Sughey was pregnant.

When Sughey came to our clinic for her appointment, she was too early in her pregnancy for an ultrasound. As her appointment ended, Sughey scheduled a follow-up appointment, but our nurse had silent doubts she would return.  Sughey had made it clear that she intended to have an abortion. There were simply too many unknowns in her life to think about having a baby.

We prayed that God would work on her heart, and bring pro-life voices to speak in her ears and fill her heart with hope.

True to her word, Sughey scheduled an appointment at an abortion clinic the next day. The day she walked into the clinic noticed a stark difference from her experience at First Care Clinic.  First, the staff was cold and uncaring. The clinic appeared dirty. She didn’t want to be there, and she certainly didn’t want to receive “healthcare” from them. 

Deeply unsettled, Sughey walked out and called her dad in desperation. She told him everything. And God answered our prayers to provide pro-life voices! He gave her the reassurance and confidence she needed to believe in herself and her partner.

Two weeks later, Sughey returned for an ultrasound.  This time, she was smiling.  She told our staff about her experience at the abortion clinic and how she couldn’t wait to get out of there. “It was nothing like my experience at your clinic,” she shared. 

Our sonographer performed an ultrasound and Sughey was able to see her precious child, growing safely in her womb!  But that wasn’t all.  Sughey shared that not only was her partner supporting her decision to continue the pregnancy, but that he had proposed!  She was getting married in the next few weeks!
